LCD Master:
"I'm using LCD Master which is a combination of external apps and Girder scripts to set up the multiple streams. It is very well set up and easy to tweak the different prioritized screens." [avs]

LCD Master – LCD/VFD screen manager (pay version Girder required) (2/10/04) [avs]

LCD Smartie [DC]

A-Tech case has option to install a Powermate control knob. Looks like a AV volume knob. Girder has a Powermate plug-in, and LCD Master will use it. More info on AVS post.

More info on the A-Tech 4000 vs. 5000 case:
"The 4000 case is 1" taller and 2.625" deeper to fit extended dual processor MB's and standard ATX PS." [on that same AVS page]

You can install a 7" Xenarc LCD in these cases. Nice pics of this mod, here. You'll want a dual-head vid card as the main screen displays Windvd and the Xenarc displays something else of your choosing. You want to use a slim-line DVD player/burner so you can install two (rather than one) HD. Requires a slim-line drive mount. Need to check if a 5.25" drive enclosure can be used with LCD option; seems that HDs are assumed to be mounted as 3.5" bare drives. Later... Uh, it seems that the only 5.25" drive that can be installed is the CD/DVD drive, LCD option or not. This means a Smart Drive enclosure cannot be used with the A-Tech cases.

DVD drives:

"The only slot load DVD writer is made by Panasonic. They just released a new version of this drive last week and they have a black face." [Glenn from ATech, link]

Pioneer DVD-120 firmware and Quiet Drive utility [link]. Tray load. Directron has them.

Slot-load, Black: DVD-120SB 16X Black [DigitalConnection]

TheaterTek OEM available with purchase of Hardware.

CPUs:
People are using AMD Athlon XP2400 Mobile CPU for low power consumption. Found info here.

Redirecting 80mm air so it goes over the fanless PSU fins: Guy on AVS uses cardboard from a cereal box. Could make something from plexiglass from Tap Plastics.

Someone posted that their case looks plain without the buttons.

Matrix Orbital VFDs:
VK204-24-USB
VK204-25 (serial)
-What software to use to control the VFD?
"If you get the USB unit, get the USB cable from MO." link

HTPC mobo:
"...if you're looking to conserve power or reduce heat, I'm very happy with my Abit NF7-S and an Athlon XP2400+ Mobile CPU. It runs amazingly cool, and the Abit is a rock-solid board with an optical audio SPDIF output as a bonus. They're also pretty cheap these days." [link]

ATech cases power supplies:
Both the 3000 and 5000 case require a 2U power supply. [link]

With the 5000 case you can have a full-sized DVD drive with touch screen since the drive will fit above the power supply. On the 4000 case, the PS is the full height of the case and there is not enough room for the full size drive with a TS. I have seen some shorter drives out there, if you can find one the is 7.5" deep it can fit. [Glenn]

Girder/LCD Driver now supports fan/temp:

ATech Mass Storage case and SATA ports:
"The Mass-Storage case comes with its own I/O break out panel for four SATA cables and a heavy-duty power cable. The 4000 case has a optional removable panel next to the fan that can be cut out or drilled for all sorts of panel mounted break out ports." [Glenn]
